Big Walk: How to Find & Use the Megaphone (All 3 Locations)

Where to find the megaphone in Big Walk: it spawns in yellow cube structures at three spots — the northern cliff by the Yellow Tower, beside the Green Tower, and the southern shore (chairlift required) — and takes one hand to use for long-range voice.

The megaphone in Big Walk is the game's simplest fix for one of its core limits: proximity voice chat only reaches a short distance, so once your group splits up you go silent. The short version: the megaphone is a world item that spawns in yellow cube structures (not locked behind any quest), and there are three spots where it typically appears — the northern cliff beside the Yellow Tower, a spot next to the Green Tower in the middle of the map, and the southern shore (the one that needs the chairlift). It takes up one hand while you carry it, so you put it down whenever you need both hands for something else.

The megaphone at a glance

  1. Know why you want it. It extends your voice past the short range of the built-in proximity chat.
  2. Look for yellow cube structures. The megaphone sits inside these, and they are easy to spot from a distance.
  3. Check the three locations. Northern cliff by the Yellow Tower, beside the Green Tower, and the southern shore.
  4. Reach the third spot with the chairlift. The southern-shore structure is gated behind the ski lift / chairlift.
  5. Carry it in one hand. Put the megaphone down before you pick up anything else.

Before you start

The megaphone is a world item, not a reward — the source is explicit that it is not locked behind any quest or progression system, so you do not need to clear a tower just to find it. The one exception is the third location, which sits behind the ski lift; you have to unlock the chairlift before you can reach that specific structure. The other two spots are reachable as soon as you can walk to them.

One honest caveat from the source: Big Walk's items do not always spawn in the same place every session, and occasionally they do not even show up on the map. If the structure you check is empty, treat the location as a candidate, not a guarantee — move on to the next one and check back.

Success check: you understand you are hunting a free world item, and you have the chairlift unlocked if you plan to hit the southern-shore spot.

Step 1 — Look for the yellow cube structures

The megaphone is "frequently located in yellow structures made of cubes". These are the landmark to scan for: a structure built from yellow cubes, and the source stresses that even from a distance it is simple to identify. They repeat around the map, so you are not looking for one single spot — you are looking for this building type, then checking what is inside it.

Success check: you can recognize a yellow cube structure from a distance and are heading toward one.

Step 2 — Location 1: the northern cliff by the Yellow Tower

The first location is the island's northernmost region. Head for the Yellow Tower, then search the nearby cliff for the structure. This is the spot to try first if you are already working around the Yellow Tower side of the map.

01:05 — locate the Yellow Tower in the northernmost region and search the cliff beside it.

Success check: you are at the northern cliff near the Yellow Tower and have checked the structure there.

Step 3 — Location 2: beside the Green Tower

The second location is close to the Green Tower, in the middle of the map. Use the Green Tower as your reference and look for a yellow cube structure in its immediate area. If you missed the first spot, this one is a shorter walk from the center of the island.

01:11 — the second location sits close to the Green Tower in the map's center.

Success check: you have checked the structure by the Green Tower and either found the megaphone or ruled it out.

Step 4 — Location 3: the southern shore (needs the chairlift)

The third location is on the map's southern shore, and it is the only one gated behind progress: you must advance through the game and unlock the ski lift — the chairlift — before you can reach this structure. If you have not started the chairlift yet, this spot is effectively out of reach, so do the other two first and come back after the lift is running.

01:16 — the third structure is on the southern shore, behind the ski-lift / chairlift unlock.

Success check: the chairlift is unlocked and you have checked the southern-shore structure.

Step 5 — Pick it up and use it

Once you find a megaphone, pick it up the way you would any held item. The key trade-off: it takes up one of your hands, so before you pick up anything else you have to temporarily put the megaphone down. When your team is bunched together the megaphone adds little, but when you are far apart it becomes crucial — it is how one player keeps talking to a distant group without walking back.

01:26 — the megaphone occupies one hand, so put it down before grabbing anything else.

Success check: you are carrying the megaphone and can be heard by teammates who are out of normal proximity-chat range.

Success check

You found a yellow cube structure, located the megaphone at one of the three spots (northern cliff, Green Tower, or southern shore), and are using it to talk across the island while holding it in one hand. If a spot is empty, you have moved on to the next location instead of assuming the item is gone.

Common mistakes and recovery

  • Assuming the item is quest-locked. The megaphone is a free world item. The only gated spot is the southern shore, which needs the chairlift — the other two are reachable immediately.
  • Giving up after one empty structure. Items do not always spawn in the same place every session and can even stay off the map. Check the other two locations, and re-check a spot later rather than concluding the megaphone is missing.
  • Looking for a unique landmark instead of a building type. The megaphone is not at one fixed coordinate — it spawns in yellow cube structures that repeat around the map. Learn the building type first.
  • Heading to the southern shore without the chairlift. You cannot reach the third structure until the ski lift / chairlift is unlocked. Do the northern and Green Tower spots first.
  • Trying to carry it while doing something else. The megaphone takes a hand. Put it down before picking up another item, and remember where you left it.

Player-count and version notes

  • The megaphone only matters in multiplayer. Its whole purpose is talking to other players beyond proximity-chat range, so a solo run has no use for it beyond collecting the item.
  • For a fixed team, the source notes that walkie-talkies are the better long-range tool — but each member must have their own, which makes the megaphone the lower-setup option when only one or two people need to broadcast.
  • The source walkthrough is a solo demonstration of the locations, so the spots are the same for any group size; the chairlift requirement for the southern shore also applies regardless of how many people are in the lobby.
