BIG WALK Coastal Crane: Sync Every Active Switch

Count the active coastal-crane switches in your current world, station one operator at each, use one visible ready cue, and recover a mistimed press without scattering the team.

Direct solution

Go to the tall red coastal crane around 3790, 2250 and walk the entire structure before touching anything. Count only the red switch pedestals that are active in your current 2-, 3-, or 4+ player world, then place one operator at every active switch. Pick one caller whose lantern or flashlight can be seen from all stations. Everyone raises both hands for ready; when every station is ready, the caller turns the light on once and all operators press their switches once in the same short window. A pressed switch lights yellow. Do not hold or spam it. The crane/confetti sequence and a red control-panel piece falling from the scaffolding confirm success. If nothing releases, keep everyone at the same stations, wait for the controls to reset, recount them, and repeat one clean visual cue.

Where to go

The puzzle is on the rocky coast at approximately 3790, 2250, southeast of the Blue Tower and below the Green Tower route. Look for a tall red lattice crane/scaffolding spanning two small coastal sections. Red switch pedestals are spread across the rocks on both sides, including one much farther from the central group.

Before the attempt

  • Bring enough players to staff every switch that is active in the selected world; the count scales with the world size.
  • Give the most visible operator a lantern or flashlight and agree that one light-on event means “press now.”
  • Put loose carried objects down beside a safe landmark so each operator has a free hand for the switch.
  • Do not combine this with the nearby green flare and hidden-box challenge; it is a separate puzzle.

Find the red crane on the rocky coast

Travel to about 3790, 2250 and identify the tall red lattice crane between the beach and the rocks. Use the crane, ocean, and red control pedestals together to confirm the location.

You can see the crane/scaffolding and at least one red switch pedestal in the same coastal area.

Scout the whole structure and count active switches

Walk around both coastal sections before assigning players. Count the switch pedestals enabled in this world, including the distant station across the rocks. Ignore unlit decorative hardware and the separate flare device.

The team has a written or spoken total and can point to every active station, not just the three closest to the crane.

Put one operator at every active station

Send free-handed players to the farthest and next-farthest controls first, then fill the nearby stations. Each operator stays beside one switch and reports ready; extra players act only as spotters or runners.

Every active switch has exactly one operator and no operator still needs to cross the rocks.

Choose one caller and one visible cue

Stand the caller where all operators can see a lantern or flashlight. Test visibility before starting. The only action cue is one clean light-on event; ordinary distant voice is a backup, not the timing signal.

Every operator can identify the caller and can see the test light from their switch.

  5. Unlit red coastal crane switch ready for a synchronized BIG WALK attempt

    5

Reset to off and complete a ready check

Wait until every active switch is back in its starting unlit state. Each operator raises both hands only after facing the switch with an interaction hand free. The caller does not flash until all ready signals are visible or relayed.

All controls are unlit, all assigned players are stationary, and the caller has received every ready signal.

  6. BIG WALK coastal crane switch changing to yellow after one synchronized press
    Source time 03:09:49Temporary frame
    6

Flash once and press every switch once

The caller turns the light on once. On that visual change, every operator immediately presses their switch once. The control should turn yellow. Do not hold the input, press twice, or start a second countdown.

Each operator sees their own switch change from off to yellow during the same attempt.

  7. Separated players remaining at coastal crane stations after a BIG WALK timing attempt

    7

Keep stations while the game checks the attempt

Do not leave or touch the switch again while the short timing check resolves. If the crane does not complete, note which station failed to turn yellow, let the controls return to off, and keep the same operators in place for the retry.

The team either sees the success sequence or knows exactly which station/cue failed without having to redistribute players.

  8. Players regrouping under the BIG WALK coastal crane after the confetti success cue
    Source time 03:12:48Temporary frame
    8

Confirm confetti and collect the fallen red piece

On a valid synchronized press, watch the crane/scaffolding and the gray confetti launchers. Regroup at the base and pick up the red Green Tower control-panel piece that falls from the structure before leaving the coast.

Confetti fires and the team carries the released red control-panel piece away from the crane.

Player-count plan

2-3 player world

The selected world can expose fewer active controls. Scout first and assign one operator per active switch; do not copy a four-switch layout when fewer pedestals are enabled.

4+ player world

The verified five-player run used four active toggles. Staff all active stations before using extras as the visible caller, spotter, or reward runner.

Common mistakes

  • Confusing the nearby green flare/hidden-box challenge with the crane synchronization puzzle.
  • Assuming there are always four switches instead of counting what is active in the current world.
  • Giving the cue while the far operator is still travelling or cannot see the light.
  • Using a spoken countdown across voice-drop distance instead of one visible change.
  • Holding, double-pressing, or randomly toggling a switch after it has already turned yellow.
  • Walking away after one yellow light instead of waiting for confetti and the fallen red piece.

How to recover

  1. 1.If one switch turns yellow but the crane does not finish, let every station return to off, identify the missed station, and repeat with the same positions.
  2. 2.If a remote player cannot see the cue, move the caller to a ridge, use a brighter lantern/flashlight, or wait for darker light before retrying.
  3. 3.If the team disagrees about the active count, stop pressing and walk the full crane perimeter again, starting with the far station.
  4. 4.If multiple players pressed at different times, cancel improvised countdowns: ready hands up, one light-on cue, one press each.
  5. 5.If confetti fired but no one has the reward, search directly below the crane/scaffolding where the red piece drops.
